Planking: A Strange Fad

Have you heard of "planking"? Chuck just told me about it and described it as "the social equivalent of streaking." That's gotta spark an interest, right?

According to Wikipedia (which I think is the appropriate source for a definition in this case), planking is "the practice of lying down flat with arms to the side, to mimic a wooden plank. It has its origins in the 'lying down game.'" Apparently it originated in Australia and became a fad in 2011. I know it sounds dumb and, make no mistake, it is dumb. But it still makes me laugh just like a streaker, although it doesn't typically break any laws. So the deal is that you take a picture laying down like a plank in different public places and sometimes have more than one person participating. Then you post it online. So, here are some examples:

So it's dumb, right? And yet, I really find myself wondering where I will plank first because the urge is overcoming me!

This is so funny. I have never heard of this either. And just this afternoon, my 16 year old neighbor sent me a picture of him on facebook "planking" on Jack's swing in our front yard. I otherwise would have had no idea what he was doing. Thanks for keeping me informed about all the cool trends. Who knew?

Every day I am reminded of just how old and uncool I am since I had no idea what you were talking about. But, I found this quite hilarious which made me glad that I still have a sense of humor.

Let's see, where might I do this?.....
