Settle this Debate

Need some help from all of you out there regarding an ongoing debate I have with Chuck. Many moons ago (I don't know how many), Chuck was eating a lot of carrots and complained about it. I suggested that he dip his carrots in peanut butter to give himself some variety. Chuck's face contorted into a look of horror and disgust as he asked, "Peanut butter?! That's disgusting!" I looked bewildered. Me, "No it's not. Kids eat it all the time." Chuck, "In what horribly deranged world do kids eat peanut butter and carrots?" I was still baffled, "Um, this world. Haven't you ever heard of kids eating carrots and peanut butter? Sometimes they put raisins along the top and call it ants on a log." I paused as my mind began to think, and then I continued, "Well, I know that they do that with celery and call it ants on a log. I'm not sure about carrots. But I'm sure that people eat carrots and peanut butter." Chuck continued to give me a look of dismay and disgust. I continued, "They serve ants on a log at pre-schools across the country. How could you have not heard of this?"

Chuck and I continue to debate this topic because he can't imagine the combination of carrots and peanut butter, and then just the other day, he renounced any concept of ants on a log (carrot or celery varieties alike).

So, all of you out there, please register your vote as to whether you've ever eaten or heard of carrots and peanut butter or the delightful childhood snack called ants on a log.

I have eaten carrots and peanut butter. BUT I have to agree that it is gross.

I have never eaten ants on a log, but I have read about it many times in many parenting magazines so can agree that there is such a thing.

Tell Chuck he should dip his carrots in Marie's jalapeno ranch dressing - that is delish - but prob also a thousand points per spoonful, ugh.

I'm starting to think the carrots and celery looks good. Obviously the diet is working. Damn. I hate being hungry.

I am with Chuck on this issue. Carrots and Peanut butter do not go together and despite the assertion by my wife, I don't believe our children have ever consumed the combination of the two.

I have heard of both. I also love pb on an apple. I am eating one as I write. I hate diets too. I have gone to bed hungry the past few nights and I am tired of it!!!

Totally ate ants on a log.

That is, I picked off the raisins, licked out the peanut butter, and chucked the celery, as soon as the grown-ups looked away.

I made it for my son's preschool on a shared snack day. The kids had never seen it. They were enthralled.

Carrots AND peanut butter, you say? Hmmm. Gotta be better than celery.

never heard of carrots and peanut butter....carrots go with RANCH! I always thought ants on a log was celery and peanut butter! :)

I have to agree with Lisa! I have not heard of carrots and PB. I do, however, LOVE celery and PB.

I treated ants on a log the same way Ginny did and I think I would do the same thing if it were put in front of me today. They do exist - but yuck!
